Last year on a Thursday afternoon the City of Charlotte experienced an 8 inch break in the water main in the Birkdale Village Area. The break was unknown and the City turned off the water to repair the break, shutting off the water affected many dinners and retail stores in the surrounding area. Although, the estimated time for the repair and water being shut off repair was midnight that night, only keeping water off for a few hours. On that following Saturday morning The City of Charlotte had managed to repair the break in the main line, however were still restoring water throughout the surrounding areas, and implied the water would be turned back on by the mid-afternoon.
